Second Blogiversary! But When?

I've reached an anniversary of sorts with blogging. It was Laetare Sunday 2007, which was 18 March 2007, that I posted my first post attempting to say something.

But, that was actually my second post. My first post of any kind was "Getting Started" on 22 February 2007. Plus, I set up "Past Elder" as a Blogger identity in October 2006, not to run my own blog, but to stop ranting as Anonymous on the blogs I visit and to start ranting on blogs I visit that don't allow Anonymous, like Father Hollywood.

So who knows -- who cares? -- what is my blogging anniversary. Laetare Sunday whenever that falls -- which if you follow the Vatican II For Lutherans wannabe calendar ain't gonna fall at all -- or 18 March or 22 February or whenever in October I set the identity up?

Anniversaries are kind of different to me. Sometimes it's the date that is significant, sometimes when it falls. For example, 12 June is the anniversary of my birth regardless of when it falls in any given year, and I can't say right off what day of the week that was the year I was born. But I always think of the anniversary of my wife's death as the night before Thanksgiving because that's when it fell, and I can't say right off what date that was the year it happened.

The confessional Lutheran blogoshpere was one of the major factors in my joining LCMS on 27 August 2006. I saw that Lutherans like me tend to be not in the synod I was in but LCMS.

In the two years (or so) that I've been running this blog lots has happened in the blogosphere. Some of the blogs I really liked when I started hanging around blogs have gone -- Beggars All, and What You Do, Do Quickly. Some great new blogs have come. On 20 August 2007 Lutheran Lucciola began! 29 January 2008 Mercy Jouneys With Pastor Harrison began, though that blog too didn't really get rolling until its second post, 26 August 2008. Some have done both -- Luther At The Movies went away and is now back as Strange Herring.

With Holy Week, when Past Elder really got rolling in 2007, I entered my second year of blogging in 2008 by posting new editions of my Holy Week posts, which became the structure of this blog -- the Blogoral Calendar of posts on the major points of the church year and some of the secular year, with whatever else along the way.
