Getting Started

Welcome to "Past Elder".

"Under Construction" might be a better title for a while, as I get familiar with maintaining a blog and not just posting on some of the ones listed to the right.

Gotta start someplace!

Greetings PastElder,

I found your blog upon googling Ebb's Hobby Shop. I've read through some of your content, and found that we do, of course, have common experiences. Did you attend JMHS? Do you really like "The Long Riders"? Why? How did you come to be so Lutheran? Are you clergy? Have you a Maine connection? I saw Lincolnville mentioned, and live an hour south in Pemaquid. I delivered Post Bulletin across Broadway from Huey's, at VFW, Ford, and north of Soldiers Field. You seem to know a lot for a kid. Please forgive my ignorance of the ways of the blog.

Hi Ward, and welcome. To answer your questions: Lourdes, not JM; yes I like The Long Riders, among other things, casting brothers as brothers, and the take on the story; the whole blog is about my being Lutheran, but the short answer is in About Me; I am not clergy, elder in Lutheran usage is a layman elected to assist the pastor in a limited capacity; never been to Maine in my life, looks like there was a recent reader from there.

When I was a kid, my dad bought me a train set from Ebb's, but when we tried to put it up Christmas morning, we discovered the electrical conductor to the track wasn't in there, and Mr Ebb went to the shop so we could come down and get one Christmas morning.

Never forgot that, and never bought hobby and toy stuff anywhere else after that!
